  Batch Comparison

In the area of production, processing and trade the retraceability of a batch assumes an important role.
Although the EC directive 178/2002 does not demand a batch accurate retraceability from the businesses, a corresponding need was identified or the batch retraceability is regarded as a recommended, senseable measure. The foundation is usually given by different documentation or IT systems

Aided by the isotope analytics, a sample secured from a batch and a sample taken from the delivered goods can be compared and tested for batch equality independent of the documentation analytically. The origin of goods from the own business can be verified securely or excluded. Unjustified regress claims can be averted should the situation arise. In case of product deficiencies the batches in question can be allocated properly.

The practicability of this analysis depends on how a certain business defines a batch internally. Another important prerequisite are usable samples secured from a batch (prior to packaging and delivery). This is why we recommend to our customers and interested people to ensure they secure suitable samples already in advance independent of the number of actually planned analyses.

We gladly inform you about the possibilities of a supporting analytical batch retraceability in your business.

Practical Example Application

A merchant received a sample of his merchandise in advance for quality evaluation. Upon delivery of the goods he is in doubt whether or not he is receiving the same merchandise.
An isotope analysis of the sample sent in advance and a sample taken from the actually delivered merchandise will reveal if both samples come from the same batch.
